    Workers’ Compensation

    Overview

Foris Law Offices offers highly experienced and effective representation of clients before the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission (IWCC).

In Illinois, Workers’ Compensation is a state-mandated, no-fault program that provides benefits to employees who suffer work-related injuries and illnesses as defined under the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act.  Illinois employers are required to provide workers’ compensation benefits either through insurance or as an approved self-insured entity.

Employees who sustain an injury arising out of and in the course of employment are not required to prove that their employers were negligent in order to obtain benefits. As an off-set to this streamlined process, benefits for work-related injuries are exclusive and limited. Employees may not sue their employer for work-related injuries and may not seek non-economic damages such as pain and suffering or loss of a normal life. Further, claims for workers’ compensation benefits are heard at the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission rather than in the circuit courts.

Whether you are seeking defense counsel, appellate counsel or assistance navigating through the complex self-insurance requirements of the IWCC, Foris Law Offices has the experience and skill necessary for success.

The complex statutory requirements of the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act and rules of the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission are unique and can be difficult to navigate.
